Girls Summer Crochet Hat

These summer hats are very easy and quick to crochet. They are made with Lily Sugar ’n Cream yarn, which is 100% cotton. Only one skein (2.5 oz) is needed to complete one hat. The hook used is size H/8 (5.00 MM).

The pattern comes in three sizes:

6-12 months (about 15.5 inches in circumference)
1-3 years (about 18 inches in circumference)
3-10 years (about 19.5 inches in circumference)

Only basic crochet stitches are used in this pattern; the pattern is suitable for beginner crocheters.

The pattern is available in my shop.

Baby Boy Hooded Crochet Blanket

This was my first time working with bulky (category 6) yarn and a huge (for me) hook size K (6.5 mm). But I must say I really liked it. For one thing, my blanket grew in size in a matter of minutes. It's really fun to see your project growing so fast!

I also liked the soft texture of this yarn. The yarn is called Bernat Baby Blanket. For my project I used one big ball (10.5 oz) in main color and one small ball (3.5 oz) in second color for the hood and edging.

The finished blanket  is approximately 27 by 27 inch square.

Easy Ripple Crochet Stitch

Here is a simple ripple pattern that can be used for a variety of crochet projects such as baby blankets and afghans, scarves or rectangular shawls, table runners or place mats  (if you decide to use crochet thread), etc.

You can experiment with different colors and use them in different sequences. This also could be a good stitch for projects when you want to use up leftover yarn of different colors. For example, you can make a very colorful rug or bath mat.

Abbreviations:

ch chain

dc double crochet

* * Instructions between asterisks should be repeated as many times as there are stitches to accommodate them.

Multiple of 10, plus 2.

Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next 3 ch, *skip next 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch, ch 2, dc in next 4 ch* across to last 6 ch, skip next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in last ch.

Row 2: ch 2, turn; dc in same beginning space, dc in next 3 dc, *skip next 2 dc, dc in next 3 dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) all in next ch-2 space, dc in next 3 dc* across to last 5 d, skip next 2 dc, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in turning ch-2.

Baby Boy Crochet Vest

Welcome to my new blog Smile and Crochet! Here I plan to share not only my crochet projects, but other simple things in life that make me smile, and make me happy.

I learned to crochet from a very young age, around nine years old. It was my mom who taught me this skill. Now many years later I consider it one of the best gifts she has given me in life.

I enjoy making all kinds of crochet items, but crocheting for babies is one of my favorite. What can warm your heart better than knowing you are creating something for a new little angel, to keep him or her warm, comfortable and cozy? I love making baby blankets and have designed a bunch of them (you can see my free baby blanket patterns at my "old" blog by clicking here), but now I'm exploring making tiny clothes as well.

This vest is very easy and quick to make and is suitable for beginner crocheters. In fact the stitches used are only single and double crochets, along with chains and slip stitches of course.

The hook used is size G/6 (4.25 MM), and the yarn is Bernat Softee Baby.

The size is 3-6 months.

The pattern is available in my shop.
